Visit Malta - Girlstrip

Last weekend, I travelled to Malta with some few girls. We flew on Thursday evening from Frankfurt Airport to Luqa Airport with Air Malta. We were supposed to depart at 8pm but we ended up having a 2 hours delay. We landed in Malta on Friday at 00:30. Then we took a shuttle to our hotel which was almost an hour and thirty minutes away from the airport. That area was called Ic-Cirkwwa. Next to our hotel was the Cirkwwa Ferry Terminal.

What we did

We had lots of fun: We ate a lot. We lived our “best life”, laughed hard and created some insiders. We also took a boat-trip and did a kind of “island hopping” with that boat. We visited the famous crystal and blue lagoon. Some of us (me) overcame their fears by jumping into the (deep) Water. We had funny conversations, talked about God and prayed which was very beautiful. We took lots of pictures which we posted on Instagram. We also visited Popeye (where the movie Popeye was filmed), Gozo (a small, but beautiful Island in Malta), Valletta (the capital of Malta and took a free walking tour), Buggiba (Where the famous café del Mar with the infinity pool is situated; but we didn’t go there because our hotel had also an infinity pool), Melliha (with the bus from Popeye village) and Sliema (but only because we wanted to eat sushi in Sakura – a chilled Sushi restaurant).

Where we stayed

We stayed in a four-star hotel named Paradise Bay Resort Hotel that we booked with check.24. It was a room with four beds, a bathroom and half-board (meaning breakfast and Dinner were included). The hotel is next to the beach and also next to the island Comino,. It is family friendly, has a bar and two Restaurants. It also has a little shop, a playroom for children (inside and outside), a sauna, a gym, five pools and you can also swim in the ocean next to the hotel. The (breakfast and dinner) buffet had a large selection of food which I loved. They also had different Programs on different nights like for example a karaoke night on Sunday night after Dinner.

How much we spent

Each of us payed 345 Euros for the trip. We booked it with Check.24. Now, one might think that 345 Euros for 4 Days is a little bit too pricy (at least that’s what my mom thought). But a lot was included in that Price; for example the Railway to and from the Airport (since we all came from different parts of Germany and flew from Frankfurt International Airport). Also the shuttle from the Airport to our hotel, the flight-ticket and the hotel with half-board were included. I only spent about 30 or 40 Euros in Malta, but I can’t really remember for what.

About Malta

Malta is a country with lots of Island. It’s great for snorkelling and hiking. The land is pretty dry; therefore, they cannot grow any food. They have to import their food and their Water. One might find it funny since they are pretty much surrounded by water, but the water from the Ocean is very salty and not drinkable. Our tour guide told us that they only have 20 Days of rain a year (but only if they are lucky). In August they have up to 40 degrees or even more. One can visit Malta throughout the whole year because even their winter temperature is pleasant with 16 degrees. They live from the tourism and from building Ships. The people are chilled (at least from what I observed) and they drive on the left side of the road like in the UK. The bus ticket cost 2 Euros and is valid for two hours. The Ferry that we took from Valletta to Sliema costed only 1.50 Euros (one way). And by the Way, Malta is situated between Italy and north Africa. Letztes Wochenende bin ich mit ein paar Mädels nach Malta gereist. Wir sind am Donnerstagabend mit Air Malta vom Flughafen Frankfurt zum Flughafen Luna geflogen. Wir sollten um 20 Uhr abreisen, hatten aber 2 Stunden Verspätung. Deshalb sind wir erst am Freitag um 00:30 in Malta gelandet. Vom Flughafen aus fuhren wir mit dem Shuttle zu unserem Hotel, das fast eineinhalb Stunden vom Flughafen entfernt war. Neben unserem Hotel war der Cirkwwa Fährhafen.

Was wir gemacht haben

Wir hatten viel Spaß: Wir haben viel gegessen und unser „bestes Leben“ geführt. Auch haben wir viel gelacht und einige Insider geschaffen. Wir machten auch eine Bootsfahrt und besuchten die berühmte kristallklare und blaue Lagune. Einige von uns (Ich) haben ihre Ängste überwunden, indem sie ins (tiefe) Wasser gesprungen sind. Wir hatten lustige Gespräche, aber auch Gespräche über Gott, haben gebetet und dadurch unsere Gemeinschaft gestärkt, was sehr schön war. Wir haben viele Bilder gemacht, die wir auf Instagram gepostet haben. Wir besuchten auch Popeye (wo der Film Popeye gedreht wurde), Gozo (eine kleine, aber schöne Insel in Malta), Valletta (die Hauptstadt von Malta und machten eine kostenlose Tour), Buggiba (wo das berühmte Café del Mar mit dem Infinity-Pool liegt, aber wir sind nicht hingegangen, weil unser Hotel auch einen Infinity-Pool hatte), Melliha (mit dem Bus aus Popeye) und Sliema (aber nur, weil wir Sushi in Sakura essen wollten - einem gekühlten Sushi-Restaurant).

Unsere Unterkunft

Wir übernachteten in einem 4-Sterne-Hotel namens Paradise Bay Resort Hotel, das wir mit Check 24 gebucht hatten. Es war ein Zimmer mit vier Betten, einem Badezimmer und Halbpension (d.h. Frühstück und Abendessen waren inbegriffen). Das Hotel liegt neben dem Strand und auch neben der Insel Comino. Es ist familienfreundlich, hat eine Bar und zwei Restaurants. Es hat auch einen kleinen Laden, ein Spielzimmer und ein Spielplatz für Kinder, eine Sauna, ein Fitnessstudio, fünf Pools und man kann auch im Meer neben dem Hotel schwimmen. Das Buffet (Frühstück und Abendessen) hatte eine große Auswahl an Speisen, was ich natürlich sehr toll fand. Sie hatten auch verschiedene Programme an verschiedenen Abenden wie zum Beispiel eine Karaoke-Nacht am Sonntagabend nach dem Abendessen.

Was wir ausgegeben haben

Jeder von uns hat 345 Euro für die Reise bezahlt. Wir haben es mit Check.24 gebucht. Jetzt könnte man denken, dass 345 Euro für 4 Tage ein bisschen zu teuer sind (zumindest dachte meine Mutter das). Aber viel war in diesem Preis enthalten; Zum Beispiel die Fahrt mit der Bahn vom und zum Flughafen war inbegriffen (da wir alle aus verschiedenen Teilen Deutschlands angereist sind und vom Frankfurter Flughafen geflogen sind). Auch der Shuttle vom Flughafen zu unserem Hotel, das Flugticket und das Hotel mit Halbpension waren inklusive. Ich habe in Malta nur 30 oder 40 Euro ausgegeben, kann mich aber nicht wirklich daran erinnern, wofür.

Über Malta

Malta ist ein Land mit vielen Inseln. Es ist großartig zum Schnorcheln und Wandern. Das Land ist ziemlich trocken; Daher können sie keine Nahrung anbauen. Sie müssen ihr Essen und ihr Wasser importieren. Man mag es lustig finden, da sie so ziemlich von Wasser umgeben sind, aber das Wasser aus dem Ozean ist sehr salzig und nicht trinkbar. Unsere Reiseleiterin sagte uns, dass es nur 20 Regentage im Jahr gibt (aber nur, wenn sie Glück haben). Im August haben sie bis zu 40 Grad oder noch mehr. Man kann Malta das ganze Jahr über besuchen, da selbst die Wintertemperatur mit 16 Grad angenehm ist. Sie leben vom Tourismus und vom Bau von Schiffen. Die Leute sind recht locker drauf (zumindest was ich beobachtet habe) und fahren auf der linken Straßenseite wie in Großbritannien. Das Busticket kostet 2 Euro und ist zwei Stunden gültig. Die Fähre, die wir von Valletta nach Sliema nahmen, kostete nur 1,50 Euro (einfache Fahrt). Malta liegt übrigens zwischen Italien und Nordafrika.
